A9 roadworks to last an extra week after unexpected delays during improvement works at the Skiach junction in Easter Ross, Bear Scotland has revealed

MOTORISTS are facing further disruption on the A9 in Easter Ross after roadworks on a busy junction over-ran.

Work to install new safety barriers and carry out other improvements has been under way at the Skiach junction since June 22. But although originally expected to take a fortnight, the project is now going to require an extra week.

"Please be advised that despite careful pre-construction planning, unexpected additional underground services were identified during the ongoing road safety project," said a spokesman for Bear Scotland, which maintains the trunk route. "An additional week of work will now be required to allow teams to safely complete the project.

"So far, new safety barriers have been installed on the approaches to the Skiach Junction (B9176), and teams will now move on to the installation process within the junction area itself.

"To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, temporary traffic lights and a 30mph speed limit will remain in place until completion."
