SPEEDING motorists have been snared by police doing nearly double the limit outside a school and others were caught doing nearly 100mph on the A9.
The drivers were caught by officers during an ongoing crackdown on speeding motorists in the region to coincide with a national speeding campaign.
Officers have been out patrolling across the region as part of the clampdown.
And this week their crackdown resulted in 16 incidents being referred to the Procurator Fiscal for prosecution, a further eight incidents resulted in on the spot fines, and "several warnings" were also issued to drivers in relation to their speed.
Incidents detected included one driver who was reported for driving at 99mph within a 70mph limit, and another motorists who was caught doing 38mph within a temporary school 20mph limit.
Road Policing Sergeant Chris Donaldson said: “Enforcing speed limits and educating road users on the dangers of exceeding them is part of our role to help prevent anyone from becoming a fatality or incurring serious injury as a result of a collision.
“This week and throughout the weekend, officers have and will be carrying out high-visibility patrols on the road network, enforcing their respective limits. I continue to appeal to drivers’ to make sensible decisions when behind the wheel and obey the posted speed limits, which are there for everyone’s safety."
