The most popular baby names in Scotland for 2021 have been released today.

The list of baby names registered in Scotland is released by the National Records of Scotland each year.

For the Highland region, the top girls name was Isla, with 17 babies being named this within 2021.

Olivia was the second most popular name with 15 new-borns being called this.

This was followed by Freya, Lily, Ella, Ava, Grace, Willow, Emily, Sophie and Isabella all making it within the top 10 most popular names in the Highlands.

For boys Logan, took the top-ranking position for the Highlands, with a total of 17 babies being named this.

This was closely followed by Brodie in second place, with 16 new-borns named this in 2021.

Making it into the top 10 for Highland boys names in 2021 were also, Charlie, Archie, Alfie, James, Noah, Freddie, Finlay and Oliver.

During 2020, the top names for girls in the Highlands were Emily, Isla and Ellie.

The top names for boys were Archie and Alfie in 2020.

The most popular baby name overall in Scotland for girls was Olivia which replaces 2020’s top name Isla.

Jack remained the most popular boy name in Scotland for the 14th consecutive year.

The fastest rising name in Scotland 2020-2021 is Lyla for girls, which moved up 56 places.

Carson was the fastest rising name for boys which moved up 42 places within a year.
