More tributes to respected Highland farmer who was a key player in the Black Isle Show and Dingwall Mart

Further tributes have been paid to Donald Fraser Snr who has passed away.

It was reported earlier this week that Mr Fraser had passed away just a week after his 70th birthday.

Owner of Dunain Mains family farm on the banks of Loch Ness he as also a director of Dingwall Auction Mart and president of the Black Isle Show.

His family said he would be sorely missed and now organisers of the Black Isle Show and the BBC have also both paid tribute.

Mr Fraser appeared on BBC show This Farming Life and a spokesman for the broadcaster said: “The team at This Farming Life is very saddened to hear of Donald Snr’s passing.

“We feel privileged to have got to know him both on and off screen, and to play a small part in recording some of his incredible work and life.

“All our thoughts are with his family.”

Secretary of the Black Isle Show Fiona MacKintosh said: “We were very sad to hear of Donald’s passing. He was such a helpful person and always ready to lend a hand.

“Donald was one of only a few Black Isle Farmers’ Society Presidents who were not from the Black Isle.

“He will be sadly missed as a valued member of the society and as a friend.

“Donald organised the sheep shearing competitions at the Black Isle Show and also the fleece and crook section.”
