A TRAIN struck a tree on a stretch of line in Ross-shire amidst high winds and a weather warning yesterday.

ScotRail confirmed the incident happened on the 11:58am Wick to Inverness line in the Conon Bridge area yesterday.

And there was further misery on the line at Achnasheen yesterday with a fallen tree hampering services.

ScotRail today confirmed the 11:58am Far North line train heading to Inverness struck a tree in the Conon Bridge area.

A spokesman said the train was travelling at low speed and the damage was minimal.

During that time, a bus replacement service was made available between Inverness and Dingwall to connect with Kyle and Far North services, which started or terminated at Dingwall.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “We’re sorry to customers who experienced disruption to their journey this weekend.

“Anyone delayed by 30 minutes or more is entitled to compensation through our Delay Repay Guarantee, and can claim on the ScotRail website or mobile app.”

ScotRail also yesterday confirmed a fallen tree on the Kyle line at Achnasheen.

ScotRail confirmed that services were subject to delay, cancellation or revision.
