Marks and Spencer employee in Highland capital suffers sudden death

An employee of a food and clothing store in the Highland capital has died suddenly while working.

The woman was an employee of Marks and Spencer and took ill while working in the shop at the Eastgate centre, Inverness, on Monday.

The death is not being treated as suspicious according to police.

Her next of kin have been informed.

A M&S spokesperson said: “Sadly a colleague at our Inverness store passed away suddenly.

"Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said : “Around 12.20pm on Monday September 26 police were called to reports of concern for a woman at Eastgate, Inverness.

"Emergency services attended but the woman had died.

"Her next of kin have been informed. There are no suspicious circumstances."
