A digger driver came home from working a week away to a request from his partner that he pay the bills.

But 21-year-old Coinneach Macdonald, of Dunmore Road, Beauly, took exception to this and a row developed around 6pm on March 25, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

Macdonald was asked to leave and did, but then began shouting and kicking the front door of their home in Thistle Road, Conon Bridge. The police were called.

Macdonald admitted a charge of threatening behaviour.

His solicitor, Roger Webb said: "He knew he had done wrong and met the police in the car park. He had been in a relationship for two and a half years but it is now over.

"He is back living with his parents and has applied to join the army."

Macdonald was fined £210.
