A Dingwall man bombarded his ex-partner with hundreds of phone calls over the course of a matter of days, a court has heard.

Neil Reid (41) repeatedly phoned both the landline and the mobile phone of his former lover between May 14 and 18.

Reid, of Deas Avenue, also sent a picture to the woman of himself with a knife to his neck.

Messages were also left by email and voicemail that were said to be of a grossly offensive nature.

He admitted the charge under the communications act when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.

One of the messages said: "I can't go on without you."

Sheriff Gary Aitken described Reid's behaviour as "completely unacceptable".

Sentence was deferred for six months for Reid to be of good behaviour.
