A 65-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of another man in Inverness.

A police spokesman said officers were called to a report of a "disturbance" in Leachhkin Hill Road at around 6pm yesterday (Monday), resulting in the death of John Birrell (55), the owner of North Coast Customs and Birrell's MOT and Service Centre.

He added: "Detectives are treating the incident as a suspicious death following a post mortem examination."

The 65-year-old man is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court tomorrow.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
