AIR and lands searches are continuing today for a missing Highland man as fears grow for his wellbeing.

Police say they are becoming increasingly anxious to trace 21-year-old Lachlan Simpson who is missing in the Dornoch/Embo area.

Searches are being carried out with assistance from Police Scotland and SARDA dogs, rescue helicopter 137, local Coastguard and RNLI.

Chief Inspector Colin Gough said: "It’s been over 48 hours since Lachlan has been seen by family or friends so we are very concerned for his wellbeing.

"Lachlan was last seen at the Dornoch Show dance marquee at the Links area of the town at around 11pm on Saturday 25th July.

"We urge anyone who saw Lachlan during or leaving the area of the dance to make contact. We would also appeal to local residents of Dornoch and Embo to check their gardens and/or outbuildings. The local community are thanked for their assistance with enquiries."

Lachlan is described as 6ft in height, of slim build with short blonde hair and was last sighted wearing a green and white top.

• Anyone with information on Lachlan’s whereabouts are urged to contact Police on 101.
