A&E patients are facing 'long waiting times' today at Raigmore Hospital, NHS Highland has warned.

Taking to Twitter at 11.15am, the health bboard warned that waits are "much longer than usual" and directed people to call NHS24 if they need urgent care "that is not life-threatening".

A spokesman said: "Waiting times at Raigmore Hospital are much longer than usual.

"Help protect our emergency departments for those who need them most.

"Please call NHS24 on 111 if you require non life-threatening urgent care. NHS24 will direct you to the most appropriate care... which might be a minor injuries unit, phone or virtual appointment, pharmacy or A&E."
