London half marathon dedicated to ‘Granda’ Highland Hospice cared for

Meet the Ross-shire runners taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon (LLHM) for Highland Hospice.

Taking place on Sunday April 7, 20 individuals will be running for Highland Hospice in the LLHM. This year will see the hospice’s biggest turnout ever at the event, with multiple Ross-shire residents rising to the challenge.

Isobel Sinclair (38) from Strathpeffer is gearing up for her second time running the LLHM for Highland Hospice, after the “amazing atmosphere” last year.

She also shared that she will be running for her loved ones who received support from the hospice, stating that “faith, hope and love keep us going”.

Isobel said: “I can’t quite believe I am heading back to London again this year for the LLHM. I also can’t quite believe how little training I’ve done this time round!

”I’m feeling very lucky to be running alongside fellow mums from Strathpeffer this year and for me its about making memories. This will be my second time participating for Team Highland Hospice. Last year the atmosphere was just amazing and I am very excited about being lucky enough to take part again.

”This year I will be running for my friends and their families that have been supported by our amazing Highland Hospice.

”Faith, hope and love keep us going always. Thank you Highland Hospice for all your amazing work.”

Another Strathpeffer woman taking on the challenge is Amy Simpson (39), who has “never done anything like this” before.

Amy said: “I am turning 40 a few days before LLHM so I thought it was meant to be. I have never done anything like this before it will definitely be an experience!

”With a wee push from my friend Izzy, I signed up with Highland Hospice and I was delighted to get a place with this fantastic local charity.

”A big thank you to everyone who is supporting me with all fundraising it’s very much appreciated!”

Highland Hospice retail communications assistant, Ryan Macrae from Alness, took on the LLHM as a “fitness challenge” ahead of a milestone birthday.

Ryan said: “Not only do I see first-hand the incredible work the Hospice does through working there, but I also have a personal connection.

”My Granda was cared for at the Hospice when it was based in Invergordon in 2016, and while he was there, he had the most amazing care. So, I would love to dedicate my run to him.

“I decided to sign up to LLHM as a personal fitness challenge ahead of my 30th.”

Highland Hospice said: “This year we have been absolutely delighted with the response to run as part of Team Highland Hospice, which will be our biggest ever turnout at this event.

“We also expect a brilliant turnout from family and friends supporting our runners on the day.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our team with their fundraising!”
