"LIGHT at the end of the tunnel" over the coronavirus crisis has been welcomed by a Ross-shire MSP as Scotland enters the next stage of its route out of lockdown.

Kate Forbes made her remarks at the start of phase two of measures outlined by the Scottish Government.

Following the strict social distancing guidelines, some families have been able to reunite indoors as well as outdoors, helping to ease loneliness and isolation.

Construction work has restarted, and next week – from June 29 – restrictions on play parks, house moves, weddings, zoos and some shops will be relaxed.

Kate Forbes, the MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, said: “We have all sacrificed a lot over the last few months, and the route map out of the lockdown gives hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

“Phase two is staggered over several weeks, with weddings allowed, some shops re-opening and key services resuming.

“I know this will restore some of the quality of life that we have missed. Perhaps the highlight will be that families and friends can be reunited.”
