THE deadline for the return of postal ballots allowing people in two Ross-shire communities to state their preferences for forthcoming elections is looming large.
Seats on community councils in Kiltearn and Wester Loch Ewe are being contested alongside eight others across the Highlands.
That's in stark contrast to a number of communities which have seen the grassroots "eyes and ears" bodies fall away through a lack of interest.
With a week to go until the Highland Community Council elections, Highland Council is reminding anyone who has not yet posted their ballot paper that there is still time to do so.
Postal ballots for the ten contested community councils must be completed and returned by the deadline of noon on Monday, November 27.
Which community councils are being contested?
Bettyhill, Strathnaver and Altnaharra
Croy and Culloden Moor
Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge and Achnacarry
Wester Loch Ewe
The counting of the votes for the contested community councils will take place from noon onwards on Monday, November 27. The count process will be broadcast live on the council’s social media channels using this link https://youtube.com/live/stAZgtMAqQA
