Volunteer crew at RNLI Kessock Lifeboat Station shared a cake last night to celebrate the base's 30-year anniversary.

The charity will be sharing stories of its history on social media throughout June.

On June 5, 1993, a D-class lifeboat was sent to North Kessock for one season’s evaluation.

In 1994, a year-round station was established.

A decision was made by the executive committee at a meeting on April 7, 1999 that North Kessock Lifeboat Station would change its name to Kessock Lifeboat Station when the planned changeover to an Atlantic 75 ILB took place and on completion of a new boathouse.

The new lifeboat house completed in September 2001 to accommodate a new Atlantic class station lifeboat at a cost of £481,500.

The new lifeboat station was officially opened and a naming ceremony was held for the new Atlantic 75 lifeboat B-771 Moray Dolphin on June 7, 2002.

The nearest RNLI lifeboat station, Invergordon, is approximately 20 miles away.

Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty, Joanie Whiteford, said: "We are so grateful to your volunteers past and present for 30 years outstanding service."
