A LIFELINE Highland ferry service is up and running again after developing a fault with its steering system.

The Maid of Glencoul ferry has returned to service on the Corran Narrows following the completion of repairs and successful sea trials, .

The vessel has been out of action since Wednesday, June 28.

Specialist engineers have now completed the necessary component repairs and commissioning.

With her now back in service, the two temporary foot passenger services have been stood down. These are the RIB service across the Corran Narrows and the passenger service up Loch Linnhe from Ardgour to Fort William town pier.

Anyone with cars parked at the slipway marshalling areas are asked to remove these as soon as possible.

The free shuttle bus service to and from Camusnagaul and the enhanced timetable of the Camusnagaul to Fort William passenger ferry will continue.

The additional marshals for the Corran Ferry queues and the temporary signage on the approach roads, including the A82 trunk road, have come back into effect.

The public are advised that the service will be busy so people should allow for extra time for their journeys, follow the signage and directions from the marshals who will be managing the queues on both sides of the crossing.

The Maid will operate on her usual timetable, running seven days a week.
