INVERNESS-based law firm Macleod and MacCallum has acquired Invergordon practice Wilsons Solicitors.

It provides the city firm with a permanent base in Easter Ross.

Janet Wilson, the former senior partner of Wilsons, and her four staff made the move over to Macleod and MacCallum at the start of the month.

This is the latest expansion from Macleod and MacCallum, and follows the acquisition of Inverness firm MacNeill and Critchley in 2016.

Macleod and MacCallum chairwoman Morag MacIntosh said: "We are delighted to have the Wilsons team on board. Janet is a well-known and well-respected lawyer who will be a perfect fit with our established client base.

"We believe that joining the Macleod and MacCallum team will allow her to provide a full range of legal and property services to clients throughout the Ross-shire area, from a local base.

"We believe it is important to be able to serve communities from and within their location, and Macleod and MacCallum will continue to serve clients throughout the Ross-shire area from the former base of Wilsons at 107 High Street, Invergordon."

Ms Wilson said: "I am delighted that my team and I are able to offer our valued clients a broader range of services, with the support of a wider team of excellent lawyers and support staff from Macleod and MacCallum."

In addition to its full range of legal and property services, the Ross-shire office will be able to offer local clients access to financial and wealth management assistance, through Macleod and MacCallum Wealth Management Limited.

In other changes at Macleod and MacCallum, Inverness lawyer Jenna Thomson has been appointed director of the firm. She is a collaboratively trained lawyer and family law specialist.

"Jenna has been a longstanding member of the team and her appointment as director is recognition of her development and achievements with us," Mrs MacIntosh said.
