PRICES have been slash by up to 70 per cent as a prominently located Highland retailer's closing down sale ramps up.

Laura Ashley's branch in the Highland capital's Falcon Square is among those earmarked for the axe after the chain went into administration earlier this year.

No date has yet been set for its closure, and the chain said it will "continue to trade until further notice".

But reductions in the store have now been extended, as it seeks to clear stocks before the chain ultimately turns its focus towards online sales and as a fashion presence at other retailers.

Among the new discounts announced in Inverness today, are 70 per cuts in prices of all fabric and wallpaper, as well as 60 per cent reductions in all womenswear and fashion accessories.

Homewares are available at 60 per cent off, with furniture, bedding, lighting and rugs reduced by a half.

Everything in the store is reduced in all departments and everything must go.

A spokesman for Laura Ashley said, “There are some amazing bargains to be found in-store, especially with these new discounts. Popular items are selling fast and customers are advised to take advantage of these discounts while stock lasts.”

The firm added that all Laura Ashley sites are ‘Covid secure’ and adhere to a strict policy of social distancing with a limited number of shoppers allowed in-store at any time. Card payments are encouraged.

Laura Ashley began in the 1950s, quickly becoming famous for its unique printed fabrics. Over time, the brand grew to become a household, associated with quality fashion, interiors and home furnishings.
