A LANDSLIP just west of Dingwall has closed the Kyle rail line for the rest of the day, ScotRail has confirmed.

Network Rail Scotland confirmed the closure of the Inverness-Kyle line shortly after 5pm, due to the landslip between Fodderty and Dingwall.

ScotRail subsequently confirmed that the 5.13pm Kyle to Inverness services and the 5.54pm Inverness to Kyle services had been cancelled.

The added that they expected the line to remain closed "for the rest of the day I'm afraid".

The landslip follows a spate of recent weather related delays and disruption on Highland rail lines.

Earlier on Tuesday, services between Inverness and Aberdeen were affected by flooding between Elgin and Keith.

And on Saturday, a landslip also have an impact on Inverness-Aberdeen services.
