Highland motorists warned by Police Scotland officers that a landslide at Glassburn, near Cannich, has left the A831 'impassable'

A LANDSLIDE has closed the main road in Strathglass near Cannich.

Police have confirmed that the A831 is closed at Glassburn.

Trees, mud, rocks and flooding have completely blocked the route on one side of the strath.

"The road is not passable," said a police spokesman. "The roads department at Highland Council are attending as soon as they can to clear.

"Please find an alternative route where possible."

The landslide comes amid an active Met Office weather warning for heavy rain.

The weather has been causing disruption in other parts of the Highlands too, with rail services affected by a landslip on the Inverness-Aberdeen line near Keith at the time of writing.
