Kyle has recorded the highest temperature in Scotland for 2024 so far with the thermometer hitting 22.1C yesterday.

According the Met Office, a balmy 21.9C was also enjoyed in the Wester Ross village of Aultbea on Wednesday (May 1).

However, by Thursday, Achnagart had topped Aultbea with 22.1C, making it the highest temperature recorded so far in 2024 for Scotland.

The warm temperatures were felt across Wester Ross, and the UK as a whole.

Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland all recorded their warmest days of the year so far, with all four nations soaring over 20C on Thursday (May 2).

However, the Met Office went on to explain that temperatures stayed significantly lower on Thursday for locations where it remained cloudy with a wind from the sea.

The forecast for today and Saturday looks good for many communities across Ross-shire too.

This afternoon promises to be dry and mild with plenty of sunshine in many parts of the Highlands.

As ever in the Highlands, change is guaranteed when it comes to the weather and scattered showers will develop in some areas.

However according to the latest BBC forecast, “a few clear spells will persist in the far west”.

The message might be to make the best of it while it’s here!
