Lifesavers with the RNLI welcomed a special guest to their Kyle base this week.

The Kyle RNLI played host to the Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty during the crew's weekly training event on Monday evening.

The Lord Lieutenant, Joanie Whiteford, stopped by as part of an ongoing programme of visits to all of the RNLI stations in the area.

An spokesman for the Kyle RNLI crew said: "The Lord Lieutenant is visiting [the stations] to find out more about the people who give up their own time to volunteer for the charity.

"She had a chat with our crew and fundraisers, saw the boat launch on exercise and watched some of our trainees undergo tractor driving assessments.

"We wish her well as she continues her tour of the other stations."
