ROAD users are being alerted to remediation work on a number of rock slopes.

Kyle of Lochalsh and Glen Shiel are amongst the areas where BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be carrying out the work.

The works will be taking place between March 9 and 17, between the hours of 8am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday.

The essential work will involve safe removal of loose rock and debris on various rock slopes above the trunk road.

The works taking place are:

  • A87 Glen Shiel: temporary traffic lights on 09/03/2024 to 13/03/2024.
  • A87 Kyle of Lochalsh: temporary traffic lights and footway closure on 14/03/2024 to 17/03/2024.

BEAR Scotland says it has been working with all relevant stakeholders to inform them of the project and share information about the traffic management that will be in place.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s north west representative, said: “Trunk road safety is a top priority at BEAR, and we’re pleased to begin remediation works at various rocks slopes located on our north west trunk roads.

“The traffic management arrangements are essential for the protection of both our workforce as well as road users, and our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.

“We encourage all road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org.
