Key Highland road to close for 'essential bridge repairs'

A key Highland road is set to be closed for "essential bridge repairs", Highland Council has announced.
The B9176 Struie Road, which provides a vital link between Ross-shire and southern and central Sutherland, will be closed at the High Bridge in the near future to allow the bridge repairs and other "road safety improvements" to be carried out.
Announcing the works, a Highland Council spokesperson said: "During works the road will be temporarily closed at the bridge and a diversion will be in place. Dates and full details will be confirmed as soon as possible."
Although the council has not yet announced a date, the Scottish Roadworks Commissioner website, which lists all active and upcoming roadworks in Scotland, has a potential start date pencilled in for sometime between March 4 and 12.
The site also lists the work's duration as being "55 working days" – although it is not known how much of that period would necessitate a road closure.
On its site it describes the works as: "Repairs to western upstream parapet (approaching from Bonar Bridge) of High Bridge alongside road safety improvements."
