THE operator behind a new £5.5 million care home set to open on the Black Isle has announced plans for a community drop-in event for those interested in living in or working at the facility.

Operator Parklands Care Homes, which also operates homes in Tain and Muir of Ord, is to hold the drop-in event in Fortrose later this month.

Around 50 full-time equivalent jobs are expected to be created in the area when the new 40-bed care home opens its doors this summer.

Parklands says it is currently recruiting an experienced manager to lead the care home, and will also offer roles for carers, nurses, shift leaders, domestic, laundry and pantry assistants, cooks and maintenance workers.

The Parklands team will also be available to talk to anyone interested in registering to live in the care home.

Community groups with an interest in partnering with the care facility are also welcome.

Elaine Taylor, operations director at Parklands Care Homes, said: “We are really looking forward to opening our new Fortrose care home. Construction work is still continuing but we are already planning for our opening in the summer and are currently recruiting a care home manager, the first of many new roles.

“We have been inundated with requests for information from people interested in living and working in our new care home. The drop in event is an opportunity for anyone with an interest in the facility to meet some of our most experienced managers and find out more about our plans. We would also be delighted to meet representatives from local community groups, schools and nurseries. Our care homes pride themselves on developing strong links with the communities they serve.”

The Fortrose care home will be the company’s ninth. Work is also due to begin this year on a £7.5 million care facility in Inverness which will offer around 60 en-suite bedrooms and will also include a playgroup for local children.

The drop in event will take place at Black Isle Leisure Centre, Fortrose, on Thursday 19 March, from 3 – 7pm.
