An Easter Ross man who abducted a former partner with the assistance of his new girlfriend was sentenced to the maximum 300 hours of unpaid work.

Craig McAllister of Mackenzie Place, Maryburgh, was appearing for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court after he and 30-year-old Linzie Hay of Baluachrach, Culbokie were convicted by a jury after trial.

The incident occurred on March 8, 2022 when 32-year-old McAllister and Hay went to a house in Invergordon, dragged the woman out and forced her into their car.

They travelled down the A9 but were intercepted by the police soon after the alarm was raised.

Hay was sentenced to do 280 hours of unpaid work.

But both were warned by Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald: "You have one chance to do these hours. If you do not, then you will come back before me and you will go to jail. This is a serious and alarming incident and fortunately was resolved quickly, not to mention the cost of the emergency response."
