Glasgow School of Art graduate Rosanna Dyke has had a dream come true and launched her debut wallpaper collection after being talent-spotted and mentored by independent wallpaper design house Ohpopsi.

The 22-year-old former Millburn Academy pupil, based in Glasgow’s West End, left secondary school a year early to follow her dream of being a designer, like her artist mum.

And now her collection titled Glasshouse – inspired by Glasgow Botanical Gardens – will go on sale in leading wallpaper retailers across the UK.

“It was an unbelievably exciting thing to happen," Rosanna said. "I was already a fan of Ohpopsi, meeting [creative director] Zoe [Eaton] and having her mentor me through the process has been incredible.

“I am so excited to launch my first collection in collaboration with Ohpopsi.”

Ohpopsi discovered Rosanna after sponsoring an award at New Designers in London, as part of its ongoing support for new talent.

Rosanna had raised funds, along with fellow students, in order to exhibit at the show.

Now, after Ohpopsi mentoring and support, Glasshouse, released under the name Rosanna Rose, features seven designs: Flora Ditsy, Glasshouse, Tiny Tulip, Venation, Leaf Boogie, Verdure and Elements, in various colourways.

Rosanna said: “The chance to have my work represented in this collection has been an incredible opportunity so soon after graduating.

“Through this collection I have been able to explore and develop my own design style whilst also getting valuable insights into the wider world of wallpaper and interiors.

“Being part of this project has given me new-found confidence in my work, and the prospects of seeing my designs in the real world and people’s homes is both exciting and surreal.”

Rosanna, originally from Inverness, left school aged 16, before taking her Advanced Highers, to take an art foundation course at the respected Ullapool art school Bridgehouse Art.

From there she went to Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 2022 and winning the New Designers Award for confident colour and bold design, sponsored by Ohpopsi.

Zoe said: “Rosanna is an extremely talented designer, and we cannot wait to showcase her work. Her designs are packed with colour, pattern and life and will sit beautifully alongside our own.

“As a team of designers, we know how hard it is to get a break in the industry and we could not be more thrilled to showcase this extraordinary debut collection of such a talented artist.”
