WATCH: Islanders gather at Home Farm Nursing Home in Skye to clap for carers

Family, friends and supporters of Home Farm Nursing Home in Portree gathered outside the centre during the regular Thursday evening Clap for Carers.

People were joined by a young piper who played as people applauded staff in the home.

Five residents have died of Covid-19 at the home where 57 residents and staff have tested positive for the infection.

It was reported today that the owners of the home, HC-One, have said they will no longer provide updates on deaths occurring at the home from the virus.

One of those joining in the appluause was Councillor John Gordon whose dad, John Angus Gordon, passed away from the virus.

Mr Gordon was 83 years old, and passed away on Tuesday evening.

Earlier in the evening, Mr Gordon said staff at the home should be applauded for the way in which they were dealing with the situation.
