Tributes are being paid to a teenager who died in a three-vehicle crash on the A9 last night.

The 16-year-old, named locally as Gregor McIntosh from Inverness, was a passenger in one of the vehicles.

He was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and died as a result of his injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

A crowdfunding page has been set up and has attracted thousands of pounds within an hour of its creation.

Ellie Campbell posted a message with the appeal stating: "The world became a darker place when Gregor passed away on Saturday 21 December.

"Gregor deserves the best send off we can possibly give him. Hopefully this will ease the burden of this for his family as well.

"Everyone is absolutely heartbroken and it hasn’t set in for the majority of us yet.

"This is for you Gregor. We all love you and hope we do you proud."
