A Ross-shire man has been banned from the roads after being caught under the influence of drugs.

Gabriel Dornan (20) admitted smoking cannabis before getting behind the wheel on April 15 last year.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard Dornan, of Kincurdie Drive, Rosemarkie, was stopped by police on Eastfield Way at Inverness Retail Park while driving a black Ford Fiesta.

The court was told he had red watery eyes when spoken to by officers and appeared nervous.

He was found to have 6.3mcg of delta-nine-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood.

The agreed legal threshold is two mcg.

He was fined £720 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
