An Inverness man sent threatening and offensive messages to his late brother's partner after she formed a new relationship.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 43-year-old Darren Junor, of Abban Street, did not approve of what the mother of his brother's child did.

Fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh told Sheriff Gary Aitken that between May 1 and May 31 this year he sent the messages, mostly via social media, to the woman at her home in Dingwall.

"He was not happy she had a new partner and sent her various messages threatening to harm her and her partner," the prosecutor said.

Junor admitted a breach of the Communications Act and was fined £640.

Defence solicitor David Patterson said: "He had been out of trouble for some time."
