A road worthiness and documents check by police on a motorist on the Black Isle raised their suspicions when the driver displayed signs of drug misuse.

Officers then decided to carry out a roadside drugs test near Tore on March 25, 2021 which proved positive for cannabis.

Jamie Bryson (22), of Bruce Avenue, Inverness gave a later reading of 6.9mcgs of the drug in his system when the safe driving limit is 2mcgs.

He admitted drug driving at Inverness Sheriff Court and was fined £640. He was also banned from driving for a year.

Defence solicitor David Patterson said: “He was living a transient lifestyle at the time, and, due to the crowd he was hanging around with, he indulged in cannabis misuse. He has now moved on and has stable accommodation.”
