PUPILS at an Easter Ross primary relished what their head teacher described as a "truly inspiring" visit from a Scottish author.

Lindsay Littleson, author of children's books including The Titanic Detective Agency and the Kelpies award-winning The Mixed Up Summer of Lily McLean, talked children in South Lodge Primary through her own journey to becoming a writer before holding a special creative writing workshop with the P4 class.

Head teacher David Hayes-MacLeod said: "It was truly inspiring to all the children in hearing about her journey in becoming an author and tips and skills that they could use in their own creative writing."

The author also penned Guardians of the Wild Unicorns, starring the unicorns of mythology and legend, The Awkward Autumn of Lily McLean and A Pattern of Secrets, a Victorian mystery set in Paisley.
