BRAVE crews braved the breezy conditions in the Cromarty Firth at the weekend to take part in the Invergordon Raft Race, an annual fundraiser for the local RNLI.

The Raft Race goes from strength to strength each year with just over £3,100 raised on the day to help save lives at sea.

Winners of Best Fancy Dress were the Toy Story team from Invergordon’s Fire and Rescue Service.

Kevin Dent, lifeboat mechanic and acting RNLI branch chairman, said: "The very breezy day made things difficult for the raft crews, but, all in all, it was a very successful afternoon. A huge thank you is due to all the people who helped or supported the event."

* More pictures from the Invergordon Raft Race will appear in this week’s North Star, out on Thursday, as well as other main events taking place in Ross-shire over the past week including Tain Highland Gathering and the Milton Fun Day.
