AN Easter Ross community group is playing its part helping keep people in care homes and hospital patients in touch with loved ones during the coronavirus lockdown.

Invergordon Development Trust (IDT) has delivered a number of Facebook Portals – devices allowing video calls to be made – for use in local care homes and the community hospital.

IDT secured the funding from the Scottish Government Supporting Communities Fund via Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

It's designed to help communities in their response to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

IDT said: "As a group we have been mindful that some of our most vulnerable and at risk in our community are being looked after in our local care homes and hospital. So we were delighted to deliver a donation of Facebook Portals to relieve isolation and help families communicate with their loved ones in these challenging times."

Deliveries have been made to Kintyre House Care Home, Invergordon County Hospital and Castle Gardens Care Home.

A delivery will be made to Mull Hall near Barbaraville next week.
