Easter Ross school's 'insurmountable' staffing pressures force closure to year group as classrooms across county continue to be hit

"INSURMOUNTABLE" staffing pressures are forcing an Easter Ross school to close to S3 pupils today (Thursday).

Tain Royal Academy is amongst many schools to have faced staffing absences in recent weeks.

It's understood the issue is Covid-related.

Rector Mark Jones posted: "Due to significant and insurmountable staffing pressures we are having to close TRA to S3 pupils (on Thursday).

"S3 pupils can return to school on Friday, April 1 for their S3 careers event.

"We thank you for your support at this time."

Alness Academy has asked its S2 pupils to remain at home on Thursday with S1 welcome to return to school.

It has cited "challenging" absence levels.

Meanwhile Fortrose Academy which had been similarly affected in recent days posted that it expected to be open as normal on Thursday to all pupils.

Dingwall Academy posted a similar message.

Highland Council posts school closure lists on a daily basis. Schools themselves often post information via their social media channels and by email and text messages to parents and guardians.
