'Inspiring' walking football player, aged 79, presented with special gift at Tain club's AGM
Tain's ever-growing group of walking footballers are continuing to take great strides forward since forming as a club last year.
St Duthus Walking Football Club held their AGM at the Royal Hotel in Tain last month, and reported on a successful year for the group.
The club elected seven members to its committee for the year ahead and pledged to continue to focus on the growth of the club, with a view to making it inclusive, for all members of the community.
There was also a special presentation for David Mack, the club's oldest player at the age of 79.
Mr Mack, who was described on the night by chairman Patrick Vickery as "fit as a butcher's dog" and an "inspiring character", cycles to and from games every week and has been with the club since its inception.
The chairman added: "St Duthus Walking Football Club were delighted to present David Mack with lifetime membership of the club, and an inscribed whisky glass bearing the word – ‘legend’.
"As one of our original players, he is an inspiration to us all, both on and off the pitch."
