The Care Inspectorate was due to carry out another unannounced inspection at a Dingwall care home, it has been revealed.

It follows the publication of a recent report covering the findings from the last visit to Wyvis House.

Inspectors had rated it “weak” in two key areas and demanded improvements by January 31 and February 28.

A Care Inspectorate spokesman confirmed that they follow up such matters with an unannounced inspection, and reports of inspections were published on the organisation’s website.

He added: “However, because inspections need to be unannounced, we cannot comment ahead of the publication of any inspection report. A report will be published in due course is all we will tell you at this stage.”

Following the last visit to Wyvis House inspectors were critical of how it supported people’s wellbeing and care and support during the pandemic.

The inspectorate had issued an improvement notice for this area with the deadline of Monday, January 31.

Inspectors found that assessment documentation focused on residents’ physical and nursing tasks such as eating, transferring and toileting, but there was no consideration of how their social, emotional and psychological needs would be met.

The inspectorate has given the care home until February 28 to ensure the dependency tool captured the skills mix and the distribution of direct care hours.

It is not known when the next report will be available.
