Dingwall Primary head teacher Sara Macaskill posted via the Parent Council social media: "I have just made the walk to school.

"The roads and pavements are awful. Old Evanton Road is extremely icy (I would advise children not to walk down this road today). The car park is currently being to be gritted and there are icy patches around the school which we will do our best to grit.

"School is only open for those who can make it in safely for 10:30am."

Highland Council has advised that St Clement's School in Dingwall is closed today.

There are multiple warnings of icy roads and pavements across local social media this morning.

Another posted: "Problems on Killen to Munlochy road. At a standstill due to sheet ice. Best to avoid as traffic backing up."

D&E Coaches posted: "Our Scardroy and Brahan bus to Dingwall Academy will not operate at all this morning due untreated roads."
