A ROSS-based MSP has thanked people working to keep others safe and vital infrastructure working in storm-battered parts of the Highlands.

In a message posted today, Kate Forbes said: "In this week between Christmas and New Year, I know it’s been very difficult for so many people caught up in the weather.

"Drivers stuck at the Slochd a few days ago, people unable to travel because the A82, A9 and other roads were blocked and property destroyed in the storms.

"My heartfelt thanks for workers trying to clear the debris.

"Of course, there are so many other people keeping the rest of us safe, working in hospitals, care homes and supporting critical infrastructure like SSEN. Thank you so much.

"Despite all of this, I hope that many of you have had a wonderful time with family and friends."

The MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch said: "A very happy Christmas and good wishes for 2024."
