A LARGE Inverness hotel has closed most of its grounds to the public after reporting vandalism to the police.
Culloden House Hotel’s management believe it was a one-off incident but warned the hotel is manned around the clock.
A spokesman said: "It saddens us to inform you that we had to call police. Substantial damage as the result of vandalism was reported.
"This has been an isolated incident but we have taken action which has resulted in all grounds being closed with the exception of using the front drive and duck pond.
"Please, we are nearly all through the lockdown and as hard as we try to keep the front gates open and welcome so many lovely local people, there is a minority who, if they continue, will result in us having no option but to close the gates and grounds.
"We ask that you respect that certain areas are out of bounds and do not put our team in a position where they have to request that you leave the property.
"This really is the last chance to keep the gates and grounds open.
"The hotel is manned day and night. Our team have been informed by Police Scotland to call if need be. Police Scotland are busy enough as it is and it is a drain on resources to have to call them so let’s not create additional work for them."
Earlier this month the hotel asked members of the public to stop dumping rubbish and damaging lawns in its grounds after opening up its green space to walkers.
Problems included littering, dog fouling and dumping of disposable bags.
