Horseriding trek from Loch Ness will aid Highland Hospice

A quintet of women will embark on a journey to the west of Scotland on horseback all in aid of Highland Hospice.
Candy Cameron, of Loch Ness Riding, will be joined by Hannah Bain, Lindsay Henry, Connie McDowall and Teresa Collison to travel for five days in May from Dores to Kinloch Hourn, covering 25-30 miles each day.
Along the way, they will stop off in Fort Augustus, Tomich, Shiel Bridge or Dornie and Arnisdale.
They are hoping to host a quiz night at each place they stop and have organised a ceilidh in Arnisdale to help celebrate the final night of their challenge.
When asked about her reasons for organising this challenge, Candy said: “Each of the communities that we will stop at have all been wonderfully supported by the hospice in one way or another and we wanted to do something special as a way of giving back.”
A quiz night is due to take place at Whitebridge Loch Ness Hotel at the start of May, in support of the group’s fundraising before they set off on their adventure.
To celebrate the completion of their challenge, an afternoon tea will be held at Aldourie Castle on May 31, where guests will have the opportunity to travel to the venue via a Loch Ness By Jacobite vessel.
Candy is no stranger to fundraising for the hospice having previously organised the well-renowned Man vs Horse race at Dores.
Hospice community fundraiser Emma Nicol said: “We are absolutely delighted that Candy is taking on this challenge in support of us, she has already done so much for the hospice in the past and has been a real vocal point in the community. We can’t wait to see how she and her fellow riders get on with their challenge.”
