There is still time to enter the 2023 Highlands & Islands Thistle Awards (HITA) with the deadline being extended to May 19.

Tourism and hospitality businesses from across the Highlands, islands and Moray are being urged to enter the awards before the new deadline.

And for those who have started their application to ensure they complete it and enter in time!

The awards are a great opportunity to showcase your business and achievements in the sectors, and enjoy a fabulous gala dinner and ceremony at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on Friday, November 10 with your team and peers.

Once again sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland, the awards bring together industry leaders, rising stars, new enterprises and trusted names to celebrate achievements and recognise excellence.

There are categories for all aspects of tourism and hospitality; from food and drink, and accommodation, to outdoor adventures, cultural events and attractions, innovation, inclusivity and action on climate change to awards for individuals and employers who have gone above and beyond what their role demands.

The awards night will host industry leaders, sponsors, inspiring speakers, entertainment, and most importantly, all of those shortlisted for an award for a spectacular evening of celebration, recognition and pride.

The team at Drumossie will also prepare a spectacular gala dinner showcasing the finest local produce.

HITA director Marina Huggett urged businesses and entrepreneurs to enter the awards: “Winning a Highlands & Islands Thistle award or even being shortlisted offers a great opportunity to really showcase your business with guaranteed coverage in the local press and on social media. And having ‘award winner’ or ‘shortlisted’ before your name will not only increase your profile but will let customers know you deliver the very highest standards as judged by the experts in the industry.

“Many winners at our regional awards also go on to win at the national finals, the VisitScotland Thistle Awards.

“The application process is straightforward and for the time taken to enter, the rewards are worth it!”

This year’s Highlands & Islands Thistle Awards are open to entries from businesses and individuals in all regions of the Highlands and Islands; from Argyll in the west, to Moray in the east, and Orkney and Shetland in the north.
