FOUR days have elapsed since NHS Highland recorded its most recent positive test for the Covid-19 virus.

The figure emerged when the Scottish Government daily update was published at 2pm this afternoon.

The data also revealed that only five positive tests were registered across the whole of Scotland in the past 24 hours, taking the overall total since the start of the outbreak to 18,373.

And it has now been a week since there were any recorded deaths in Scotland among those who tested positive for the virus.

That death figure remained unchanged at 2490 for the seventh day running – although it does not include fatalities among those with an unconfirmed Covid-19 infection.

Across the wider north of Scotland there were no fresh positive tests for the coronavirus recorded in the Grampian, Orkney, Shetland, Eileanan Siar or Tayside health board areas.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised Covid-19 cases also remained relatively static - rising just two to 329 when compared with 24 hours earlier. Of those, only two were in intensive care.
