NHS Highland recorded no new positive tests for Covid-19 coronavirus over the past day

THE Highlands and far north of Scotland have reported no new positive tests for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, government figures have show.
NHS Highland's total number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus remained static at 374 overnight.
And there were also no new cases reported in NHS Grampian (which has recorded 1413 positive tests since the start of the pandemic), Orkney, Shetland or Eileanan Siar.
A little further south, NHS Tayside recorded just one new positive test in the past day, taking its overall total to 1764.
News of the limited increase in new confirmed cases came as Scotland, as a whole, registered just nine postive tests since the update on Tuesday.
Sadly four more deaths were recorded among those who previously tested positive for the virus.
The number of confirmed cases in Scotland since the start of the outbreak is now 18,191 – although the number of actual infections is believed to be higher.
Some 2480 of those who tested positive have subsequently died.
In better news, the number of people receiving treatment in Scotland's hospitals for Covid-19 fell below the 500 mark last night. It dropped from 512 the previous day to 489 last night. Of those cases, eight were in intensive care.
