Catrina Macfayden-Coyne has extra to celebrate on her 40th birthday this year after scooping £70,000 on the MFR Cash Register.

The radio competition sees listeners text in to enter.

If selected, they must answer the phone within five rings and tell the radio host the correct amount of money to win – which is exactly what Mrs Coyne did.

A regular listener, she was delighted to win the amount, which she said was a massive shock.

"It is only now beginning to sink in that I have actually won £70,000 – I can't tell you how much of a difference this will make to me and my family’s life," she said, after winning the money on March 15.

“I have never won anything before so it was a massive shock to get the Cash Register call from Garry Spence to say I had won- once I had told him the correct amount - I still can’t believe it.

“The money has come at the perfect time with my 40th birthday coming up as well as my daughter’s just a few weeks later.

"I listen to MFR every day, and normally enter Cash Register every day, but due to a busy few weeks at work I actually hadn’t got round to it, so when I heard Dan & Grace announce the total was up at £70,000 I thought I better just text in.

“And thank goodness I did! Just shows you – you’ve got to be in it to win it.

“I haven’t really thought about what I will spend the money on but I think buying a house will be the most sensible step. I want to put the money to good use.”

“I joked with my husband that he should enter this week to see if we could double up the money!”

MFR DJ Garry Spence said: “It is great to see a fellow Invernessian win the big prize on Cash Register.

“I speak to listeners all the time who are in complete disbelief that they won, but someone has to right? Why not you!

“If your name is in the hat you have just as much chance as anyone of winning.

“I am delighted for Catrina and hope she and her family enjoy this life-changing sum of money.”
