INVERNESS-based Cairngorm Windows has landed two central belt contracts worth £350,000.

The new projects are a development of flats in East Kilbride and 102 houses in East Lothian.

They represent a significant step southwards for Cairngorm, which has invested £175,000 in state-of-the-art machinery at their manufacturing base in Henderson Road, where the firm employs more than 100 people.

Cairngorm managing director David Dowling said: "We’ve secured these orders on quality and value, and they encourage us to go after more central belt business in the new year."

The Highlands and north east are Cairngorm’s traditional sales heartland and Mr Dowling added: "The forward market in our area is extremely strong, from one-off homes or offices to contracts for the construction sector and housing associations.

"It’s heartening to see such a volume of work and we’re actively pricing for more work than we’ve enjoyed before at this time of year."

He revealed that Cairngorm will sell double the number of composite doors this year compared to 2016.

"We’ve always had good demand for our PVC doors," Mr Dowling said. "But now contractors are attracted to the extremely hard material of the composite doors, which have enhanced insulation values and come in more colours than PVC ones."
