Scourie based Loch Duart is one of just 58 Scottish companies featured in the report, now in its the seventh edition.

Managing director Mark Warrington said being singled out was a “huge honour” for the company, which employs 140 people and has sites in the Hebrides as well as Sutherland.

He said: “I’d like to thank our amazing team for their hard work, especially during this pandemic. We look forward to growing our business while continuing with the same, welfare friendly, small-scale farming methods we’ve been using for over twenty-one years.”

Established in 1999, Loch Duart produces more than 6000 tons of salmon per year and exports to more than 15 countries, supplying hotels, restaurants and retailers.

It prides itself on its small-scale farming methods and work to reduce its environmental impact.

Loch Duart salmon was served at the wedding breakfast for Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Mr Warrington said: “We aim to produce the highest quality salmon with the lowest possible environmental impact and by maintaining our niche at the top end of the market for over 20 years, it’s clear our customers across the world agree.”

Earlier this year Loch Duart bought a mothballed fish processing facility at Dingwall previously owned by The Edinburgh Salmon Company.

London Stock Exchange Group chief executive , David Schwimmer, said: “This report highlights the vital role of SMEs in driving economic growth, leading innovation and providing jobs across the UK.

“In this challenging year, it is important to shine a light on stories of resilience and entrepreneurship. The success of UK SMEs is crucial to rebuild a post COVID-19 economy. We are committed to helping growth companies achieve their potential.”
