A "BOOB cruise" trip taken by women on a Scottish island to a mobile breast screening clinic on the mainland lit the creative spark for a quirky play.

And now the team behind it is crowdfunding the £2500 needed to get it off the ground and – potentially – into theatres.

Moray-based theatre company Right Lines Productions has launched the campaign for the company’s latest project.

The production, Boob Cruise, is "a comedy about breast cancer screening".

The team are seeking support and feedback for a planned production.

Euan Martin from Right Lines explained: “The origins of this project date back a few years ago when we rehearsed and opened our award-winning climate change comedy Rapid Departure on the Isle of Eigg.

"Local resident and arts administrator, Lucy Conway, suggested an idea for a new play based on the experience of local Eigg women who have to charter a boat to attend the mobile breast screening clinic in Mallaig on the mainland. The women call the trip 'The Boob Cruise'.

“My colleague Dave Smith and I thought this would make a great issue-based comedy – a theatrical style Right Lines Productions has developed to great effect over the years. Lucy secured a small grant from National Theatre of Scotland to develop the idea and Right Lines also received support from Playwrights’ Studio Scotland to travel to Eigg to research the project and write a first draft of the script.

"We’re now trying to raise £2500 to screen a rehearsed reading of our draft script, to invite feedback from audience and breast cancer screening health professionals, and make Boob Cruise even better.

They have lined up rewards as a thank you to supporters.

Everyone will be invited to an online rehearsed reading of Boob Cruise and afterwards tell us how we can improve Boob Cruise and make it perfect for touring Scotland in 2022

You could be listed in the credits, receive a signed copy of the script, or meet with the creative team to find out more about the project

Your company's logo could be used to brand the screening of the rehearsed reading to our supporters, health and theatre professionals.

And one "amazing supporter" will be heading to Eigg for a week's holiday or writing retreat for two in Sweeney's Bothy.

Mr Martin said: "Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated and we have some great rewards to say thank you."
