Police have said that searches are continuing in the new year to try and find missing man Rodrigo Falcon.

The force's dive and marine unit carried out searches of the River Spey by Aviemore and Loch Alvie, south of the village, in the run-up to the New Year.

A force spokeswoman said: "Rodrigo Falcon is still missing and enquiries are ongoing to trace him."

There was no further information available from the police on the current search operation for Mr Rodrigo, who hails from Argentina.

The initial focus of the search following Mr Falcon's disappearance after leaving The Vault nightclub in the centre of Aviemore in the early hours of December 11 was in the Lynwilg area.

His last known movements showed him heading south out of the village although he was staying at Dalfaber at the opposite end of Aviemore.

The last CCTV image of Mr Falcon was on the opposite side of the road from the Premier Inn.

The last reported sighting was at the Kinakyle cliffs just south of the village.

One hope is that motorists living outwith the area who were travelling on the A9 and the B9152 around the time of Mr Falcon's disappearance may come forward with more dash cam footage and crucial information if they pick up on the appeal.

Mr Falcon is described as being 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, with dark hair cut in a mullet style with a moustache and beard.

When last seen he was wearing a red jumper and baggy jeans but had left behind his distinctive brown woollen coat despite the sub-zero conditions at the time of his disappearance.

Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 2387 of 11 December.
